About

matthew drzymala author, bumkinton tales, indie authorHey, I'm Matthew Drzymala - and I'm glad you've found your way here.

First off, like any author, I love writing.

I love creating characters you root for as well as hate.

I love creating worlds where anything can happen, and I love that you, my readers love it too.

How I became an author

I could say I've written stories since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. In fact, the reality is very different. Sure, I loved writing when I was young - heck, I even won awards in school for my stories.

But, well, things change and I didn't write many stories once I left education.

Then, when I was 27, I rediscovered my love for writing stories, I took a creative writing class, won an Adult Learner Award and released my own books.

I'm best known for my comedy series, The Bumpkinton Tales, a collection of stories packed with colourful characters and bizarre goings on.

I released my first stories in 2013 as single-story kindle versions, before I released the paperback collection, The Bumpkinton Tales: Volume One in 2016, followed by the follow-up novel, The Fantastical Gregory Shortbread in 2018.

And, sandwiched somewhere in between all those was a stand-alone short story called Brainstorm about a clinical psychologist in New York.

However, my true love lies in writing humour, which is why I love the Bumpkinton stories. They're silly, fun and, with little to no bad language, they're a gentle escape for readers of all ages.

But I'm not only an author, I'm also a school workshop presenter and a Patron of Reading.

Author Workshops & Patron of Reading

Getting young people to write is a passion of mine, which is why I've visited a number of schools and colleges with my Author Workshops - which means I rock up (at a place I've been booked) and talk to students about how to create:

  • First line hooks
  • Characters
  • Plot
  • Twists

And loads of other stuff to do with writing a really good story.

No two workshops are the same, which means I change them to suit the needs of the school, college and students - and it keeps them fresh for me too.

And, with the announcement that as of 2019 I'm also a Patron of Reading, this has helped me speak to more teaching establishments about getting me in to speak to their classes.

But not only that, writing is my career to, as I'm also a full-time professional copywriter.

How I became a copywriter

Most writers stop at books, however, writing is my life as I'm also copywriter, which means I write all sorts of stuff for businesses. Whether it's web pages, blog posts, product descriptions and emails for their online exploits or letters, flyers and brochures for their print advertising, I write it.

I'm not too shy to self promote, so if you run a business and wanna get a writer in to freshen up your written content, check out my other website at Indelible Think Copywriting.

Oh, one last thing about me...

Oh, yeah, before I forget.

If you found your way here from my homepage, I promised you I'd tell you what my favourite cake is.

It's:

All the cake.

That's right, I like every cake, I don't descriminate.
